Tour the original plantation house from Attic to Cellar – Built between 1735 and 1740This Rice Plantation is one of the oldest preservations in the United States open to the public. Birthplace of Thomas Lynch, Jr., South Carolina Signer of the Declaration of Independence, the guided tour shares the history of the Patriots and Planters of Hopsewee. The house, a private residence, is furnished with 18th and 19th century antiques and features original hand carved lighted–candle molding.

Visit our River Cottage Tea Room for a Southern Tea with a selection of savory items, tea sandwiches, and home made desserts accompanied by a large selection of fine teas – our tea menus are our own creations inspired by traditional southern recipes – all served with fine china, silver and beautiful linens.
