Sweetgrass Basket Classes

Sweetgrass basket making was brought to the South Carolina Lowcountry by slaves who came from West Africa and has been a traditional art form passed on from generation to generation from mother to daughter to granddaughter.  During the says of slavery, rice cultivation and the flourishing plantations off the Old South, these baskets were in great demand for agricultural purposes.

Classes include all materials and instruction and last three hours.   Light refreshments will be provided.

Schedule a private Sweetgrass Basket class for 4  to 15  people for your group.  $40.00 per person.  e-mail for More Information
