The grounds at Hopsewee are a lovely place to stroll and view the slave cabins and the scenic Santee Delta. The home and grounds at Hopsewee Plantation are open Tuesday through Saturday. Guided tours happen on the hour from 10 am until 3 pm. Dining is available River Oak Cottage Tuesday-Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm.
We are closed on Sundays and Mondays, and late December through January. Please respect our privacy by not driving onto the property at these times without prior arrangement. Occasionally we may be closed for private functions; check available dates and purchase advance tickets by phone (843) 546-7891 or online.
Hopsewee is located on US 17 near Georgetown, SC. We are about 12 miles south of Georgetown and 10 miles north of McClellanville. The best GPS address to use is 494 Hopsewee Road, Georgetown, SC 29440.
Driving from Myrtle Beach
Hopsewee is 48 miles south of Myrtle Beach and
12 miles south of Georgetown, immediately before the North Santee River crossing on Highway 17.
• Take US-17 South for approximately 48 miles.
• Stay in the right hand lane after about 10 miles past City of Georgetown
Entering by the Side Gate:
• Turn right onto Oaks Plantation Drive.
• Immediately make a slight left onto Crow Hill Drive which parallels US-17.
• Continue straight onto Hopsewee Road.
Entering by the Main Gate:
• Drive past Oaks Plantation Drive for another 500 feet
• Turn right into the Front Gate entrance across from the Pole Yard public landing |
Driving From Charleston
Hopsewee is 47 miles north of Charleston and 13 miles north of McClellanville, immediately after the North Santee River crossing on Highway 17.
• Take US-17 North for approximately 45 miles.
• Get in left hand lane as you are crossing the bridge over the North Santee (second bridge over the Santee Delta)
Entering by the Main Gate:
• Take first left after the bridge into the Main Gate at Hopsewee, across from the Pole Yard public landing
Entering by the Side Gate:
• Turn left onto Oaks Plantation Drive.
• Immediately make a slight left onto Crow Hill Drive which parallels US-17.
• Continue straight onto Hopsewee Road. |
